Here We Are Again.

I guess that's why they call it a journey, right?  I suppose (& hope) it won't always be an uphill battle.  But I know that even when I reach my goal weight, I will always have to TRY HARD to maintain it.  I'm like an addict.  Cupcakes are my crack.  But right now, I'm just trying to get to the top of that hill.

So, let's focus on the positives.  Cliff and I have both been eating VERY healthy for the last week.  I'm down 7.6 lbs. and Cliffy is down 10 lbs.  We aren't following a specific diet.  We've just been eating fruits, veggies, lean meat, nuts, brown rice, Greek yogurt, lots of water.. and staying away from soda and processed foods.  It seems to be doing the trick.

We haven't really gotten super serious about working out yet.  But that is coming soon!  I really like a saying I saw on Pinterest..  "Get fit in the gym, lose weight in the kitchen."  It's so true!  We're doing well on the losing weight part and now it's time to focus on the getting fit part.  I am sooooooo excited that our horrid, bitterly cold winter is over and that the sun is shining!  Now that the weather is nice and it stays light for longer, we plan to walk on the trail. We can also utilize the gym here at our apartments.

Unfortunately, working out in the apartment isn't much of an option.  Our disgusting neighbors downstairs must stand poised and ready with their broom handle to bang on our ceiling at the slightest hint of a noise.  They banged on the ceiling when Cliff spilled his beer.  On the carpet.  And when I got a pot out of the cabinet.  And when I sat on the couch.  Seriously, all day.  So jiggling around with my lady lumps to Zumba or some such routine in my living room might start an all out war.

Why now, you may ask?  Because I'm ready!  I'm 30.  I want to have a baby.  And I want to be healthy and feel better.  That's why.  :)  I hope some of you will still follow me and leave comments!  I love to hear from y'all.  I also want to post pictures so one day I can do one of those cool slide show thingies to see how much my body has changed.  But I'll save that for a day when I'm wearing a bra.

Until next time, I leave you with this image.  You're welcome.

So you're saying you couldn't do our old "Sweatin' to the Oldies" tape at home?! Bummer. Investigation Discovery has a new show coming out called "Fear Thy Neighbor"... You can guess what it's about... Made me think of y'all haha!

I love y'alls new approach and congrats! I totally agree that most of weight loss is done in the kitchen. I've been watching the documentary series "The Men Who Made Us Thin" (it's from BBC, it's fabulous!) on YouTube . They blow the lid off the "diet" industry and illustrate that popular "diets" don't work in the long term for OVER 99% of people. (I feel like I've tried EVERY stupid diet there is and I can attest to that! Master Cleanse, anyone?!) The only permanent way to be in-shape and healthy is to eat healthy for life... Which ain't so bad though!

Idk after watching those things and all my "paleo" research I'm finally beginning to see that fast food and junk food are not even food at all! They're products and they're basically poison to our bodies. I feel like that has been enlightening for me! Now when I think "fast food restaurant" I think "GROSS" not "yum!" which is a big improvement from my former self!!! After finding out McDonald's fries have 17 ingredients including an industrial flame retardant, it's harder to crave them....

I'm glad you and Cliff are committing! Props to you both. I like your quote about health/fitness. One of my favs is "Don't wish for it. Work for it."

As always, it was funny and entertaining reading your blog! You should do it all the time! I don't even have the gumption to share any of my writing (or art or anything for that matter!) with my friends and family so you are much braver than me! You're talented! Now that my comment is a blog post in itself, I may as well leave you with another quote: "You'll never regret reaching your goal. You will only regret giving up and not trying harder." Love you both lots and I'm so proud of you!

I too am very proud of you, not only for making the commitment but also for sharing your thoughts to all of us. :)

It truly is 98% FOOD & like 2% exercise. I mean, you gotta MOVE & you'll want to tone up ... but weight loss really is about what you put in your mouth.

These past TWO years I've had my ups & downs and struggles ... but you just feel SO MUCH BETTER when you're doing something good for yourself. It's something good long-term, not just temporarily.

Whatever we can do to encourage you or assist, please don't hesitate to ask. I'd be happy to go walking on the trail with you anytime Cliff cannot join you.

We love you!!! :) :) :)

I'm super proud of you Lizzy Pooh and I know you can do it! I am very excited to hear and see you progress. You made a decision to make a change and it will be an amazing outcome. Especially so you can hurry and have some little teddy bear babies...lol

It's funny that you are starting this because I have been TRYING to do the same it just doesn't come as easy for me. Hopefully your journey will help my success. I don't want to be the fat mom.

Anywho...good luck and I am cheering you on from 500 miles away. Love you mean it.

"When feeling overwhelmed by a faraway goal, repeat the following: I have it within me right now, to get me where I want to be later"

I tell myself this all the time!!
